NASHP Tracking Map: New State Actions That Support and Expand Palliative Care
The National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) has updated its state interactive tracker map that highlights budgetary and legislative actions from 2022 to 2025 that support and expand state palliative care and related initiatives.
Palliative care is team-based care that provides relief from the stress and symptoms of a serious illness. Many states have created a palliative care advisory council or other advisory groups through legislation and identified tasks the group should complete. The composition and goals of these groups vary by state. The latest map update includes budgetary and legislative actions on palliative care in 27 states.
NASHP's palliative care maps include:
- Recent State Actions That Support and Expand Palliative Care (updated 7/31/2025)
- Palliative Care Advisory Task Forces legislation and recommendations (updated 9/25/2024)
- States with Palliative Care Information Programs (updated 8/26/2024)
