The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) Catalyst has published an article, "Using Quality to Shine a Light on Homebound Care."

Drs. Christine S. Ritchie and Bruce Leff, John A. Hartford Foundation grantees, discuss home-based medical care and recent developments to grow provisions for providers to care for homebound persons.

"Increasing recognition of the potential value of home-based primary care at the national level began in 2012, when the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) Independence at Home Demonstration was signed into law as part of the Affordable Care Act," notes the article, and goes on to detail more recent developments around quality and value-based care. "In collaboration with the West Health Institute and The John A. Hartford Foundation, we developed the National Home-Based Primary Care and Palliative Care Registry."
